Why Facebook Marketplace is a Crafter’s Best Friend.

I have always loved making birthday cards. It started with construction paper and markers. I loved including heartfelt messages about why the recipient was great and why I loved them. In high school, I started making Christmas cards. For the first time, I went to Michael’s in search of cardstock - construction paper was not cutting it anymore. I bought my first paper pad for over $20. I was shocked at the price.

Generally, card-making supplies cost a lot of money, especially when you are first starting. I am not sure if Facebook Marketplace was even around when I was in high school, but now I cannot imagine life without it. Deals come up that you will not find anywhere else.

One of my best financial decisions on Facebook Marketplace was not long ago. For a small price of $15, I bought one of those old cardboard file boxes FULL of cardstock, along with other pads and misc supplies like letters and stickers. All that for less than the price of ONE paper pad at Michaels.

I had been wanting an old model Cricut that takes cartridges for a while and I found one for only $40 that included a couple of cartridges. They do not sell the older model Cricuts in the store anymore, so I was very thankful for the number of people selling them on Marketplace. And that is another advantage of Marketplace - finding things that they no longer sell. I am slowly collecting cartridges as they come up, usually for $15-$20 each. When you go online to look for cartridges, you will find that they are charging upwards of $50 or more for a single cartridge because they are also no longer sold in store.

It is crucial to keep an eye out. Deals come and go VERY quickly. It also gives you the chance to scope out prices so you can make an informed decision on whether or not something is a good deal. I have seen people try to sell their scrapbooking supplies for over $100, when you can get some for less than half the price. Recently, I got a set of paper punches. I had seen ads up before for the same set of punches for $40 - I got it for $15.

Some people want to get rid of stuff ASAP, and others want to hold onto the items until they get the right deal. You just have to keep your eye out for the first one! Whatever your looking for, make sure to take a look on Marketplace before you go out and pay full price - you might just catch yourself a deal.
